The Cheapest Upgrade Is Not a New Doll
Owners who have had a doll for a year tend to say the same thing: the change that made the biggest difference was not an expensive option at order time. It was a different wig.
Her face reads completely differently with a different hairline, length and color. It costs a fraction of anything else you could change, and you can undo it in a minute.
Wigs
Your doll ships with one. It is fine, and it is also the most replaceable thing about her.
What to look for: a cap size that matches her head, and a hairline that suits the face shape. Human hair looks and drapes better than synthetic but needs real maintenance. Good synthetic holds its style with far less work, which most owners prefer in practice.
Dark wigs on light skin are a staining risk, particularly when damp. Treat a new wig the way you treat new clothing: wash it before it sits against her skin, and do not leave wet hair resting on her shoulders.
Care: brush from the ends upward with a wide-tooth comb, never yank through a tangle from the top. Store wigs on a stand rather than crushed in a drawer. Keep heat styling away from synthetic unless it is specifically rated heat-safe.
Eyes
Eyes change expression more than people expect, and swapping them is a common early modification. It is fiddly the first time and routine after that.
Take your time and use gentle, even pressure. Do not force anything, and stop if something feels wrong rather than pushing. If you are not comfortable doing it yourself, ask before experimenting — this is a place where enthusiasm causes damage.
Practical note: lighter iris colors read more strongly in photographs, darker ones look more natural in person. If you photograph your doll, that difference is worth knowing before you buy three sets.
Clothing
The most important thing about clothing has nothing to do with style.
Wash everything new two or three times before she wears it. This is the single most valuable habit for a TPE or STPE doll. Dye transfer is the most common permanent damage owners inflict on themselves, and it is entirely preventable.
Be especially careful with black, navy, deep red and cheap denim on light skin tones. If in doubt, test the garment on a hidden area for a few hours before committing to a full day.
Fit: doll proportions are not human proportions. Bust and hip measurements rarely map onto standard clothing sizes, so measure her rather than guessing. Anything tight enough to compress soft material for long periods can leave a mark, so loosen or remove tight items when she is being stored.
What to Buy First
If you are working through a budget in order:
- A second wig. The biggest visible change per dollar, by a wide margin
- Renewal powder and a proper cleaning kit. Consumables you will use continuously
- Two or three well-fitting outfits, pre-washed
- A spare set of eyes, once you are comfortable handling the head

Large clothing hauls bought before measuring, cheap dark fabric that stained on day one, and heat-styling tools used on synthetic wigs that were not heat-safe.
